Welcome

On behalf of the staff and students at Berwickshire High School, a very warm welcome to you.

Berwickshire High School is a rural state comprehensive, located in the east of the Scottish Borders. We have a student role of around 600 and a staff of around 100. We have five partner primary schools: Chirnside, Coldstream, Duns, Greenlaw and Swinton.

As a school, we aim for best in all that we do. We have high expectations of our students, our curriculum, our teaching, and the support we offer. In Berwickshire, you will find students who are passionate about their learning, and being challenged; you will find kind staff and students; you will find a plethora of wider achievement opportunities, and you will find a staff wholly committed to developing their practice and doing their best for learners. It is a great place to be.

For the 2024/2025 session, I am delighted to be leading the school as Acting Rector while Mr Bruce Robertson, the substantive post holder, is on a career break.

Our school has been on a rapid trajectory of improvement since August of 2020 and you can read about the progress we have made in the ‘inspection’ area of the website. Our calm, purposeful learning environment and the quality of teaching are key areas we are particularly proud of.
